The largest park in Kranj is named after Dr. Janez Bleiweis, a publicist, politician and editor of the first Slovenian newspaper, who was born in Kranj. In addition to providing a place for citizens to spend quality leisure time, the park also reinforces Kranj’s status as a sustainable city and a member of the 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Places by Summer 2030 mission. Iskraemeco is also participating in this initiative, as we have committed to the Municipality of Kranj to become carbon neutral as a responsible part of the local community by the Summer of 2030.
Our colleagues Tamara Ćetković and Dalija Delić attended the opening event, where the Mayor of the Municipality of Kranj, Matjaž Rakovec, and the Green Ambassador, Dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, addressed the audience. The cultural program was provided by pupils from the local primary schools and kindergarten.
We are delighted that Kranj has a new park, as green spaces and trees in urban areas are of inestimable value. Trees improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contribute to biodiversity, provide shelter for animals and improve the overall well-being of urban environments. Iskraemeco is committed to active participation in the local community and we are happy to support projects of this kind that have a positive impact on local people, the environment and nature at the same time.
