Modernizing electricity grid in Madagascar
Madagascar’s household electricity demand has risen considerably in recent years. In response to the increasing
needs of residential electricity consumers, utilities have
started upgrading and modernizing the country’s electricity grid, and at the same time looking for a solution that will deliver operational savings and data management services. Madagascar was looking for a provider that would be able to supply approximately 30% of its households.
A third of the household grid
Committed to modernizing its electricity grid, Madagascar’s Ministry of Energy and Hydrocarbons was looking for a cost-efficient solution to supply a variety of electricity meter options. Since different regions of Madagascar have different needs, Iskraemeco made sure to adapt its solution to each region’s specific requirements. The project consisted of smart meters and basic meters, and most devices were equipped with communication modules.
Iskraemeco’s solution and support will help Madagascar modernize 30% of its household grid in three years. A total of 50% of the project quantity will be integrated by the end of 2020, 25% in 2021 and 25% in 2022.
