The project focuses on supporting a more stable and efficient electricity system by optimizing the use of existing infrastructure and enabling greater integration of renewable energy sources. On this basis, it also enables smarter management of electricity consumption in households.
Why Vodice?
The pilot project will be carried out in the area of the Vodice Center transformer station. The location was carefully selected – Vodice is a forward-looking municipality where residents are increasingly adopting modern energy solutions, including solar power systems. The proximity of project partners also enables faster implementation and closer collaboration with participating users.
A solution that benefits everyone
The project first addresses the needs of the electricity system by improving the use of existing grid infrastructure, contributing to higher quality of electricity supply, and reducing the need for new investments. It also enables greater integration of renewable energy sources, especially solar power.
On this basis, it also brings benefits to households by enabling better use of their own energy production and more efficient, coordinated energy consumption. Consumption is adjusted automatically, without affecting user comfort.
Participation is simple and accessible – free of charge, with no construction work required, and all installed equipment remains with users after the project is completed.
Strong response from the local community
The informational session attracted interest from Vodice residents. Following the presentation, participants raised a number of concrete questions, leading to a constructive discussion.
Key topics included:
- challenges of the existing electricity grid,
- integration of new devices such as heat pumps and solar power systems,
- and the role of smart solutions in ensuring grid stability and flexibility.
The discussion clearly showed that residents are ready to actively participate in the transition toward a more sustainable energy system.
Next steps
The project is now moving into the implementation phase:
- in April, individual consultations with interested households will begin,
- followed by the first installations of smart meters later in the Spring.
Towards a smarter future – together
With the Smart Energy Vodice pilot project, Iskraemeco and its partners demonstrate how advanced technology, local collaboration, and active user participation can contribute to a more stable, flexible, and sustainable electricity system.
Participants are not only optimizing their own energy consumption, but also actively contributing to a future where the electricity grid is better prepared for the growth of renewable energy and new forms of energy use.
