The aim of Iskraemeco’s Green Penguin project, which is partly funded by the Norway Grants and the Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Development and European Cohesion Policy, is to show the public that the actions of every individual have a major impact on the environment. Our goal is to inform and teach children and youngsters what CO2 emissions are, how they are created, and what we can do to reduce them.
The Green Penguin is a digital platform intended to teach and engage residents in activities that support communities in their efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.
The Green Penguin project is run by a consortium of companies with Iskraemeco, d.d. as the Lead Partner, and the Municipality of Kranj, the City of Ljubljana, the Doves Association, and FEE Norway as partners. The solution is intended for smart cities, as it provides support in achieving carbon neutrality through citizen training and engagement.
The Green Penguin runs a platform that teaches kids, students, parents and entire cities how to reduce their emissions by using fewer resources. It uses smart digital technologies, gamification and quantification to achieve environmental awareness and consequently reduce CO2 emissions. The Green Penguin first connects schools, but can also be used to connect other public infrastructures and motivate everyone to work towards the common goal of reducing their carbon footprint. It teaches and motivates pupils and students to actively and effectively address climate goals and decarbonization. As energy and resource use decreases, the cost of energy source utilization to cities will also decrease significantly, and fewer emissions will help the environment heal.
Iskraemeco’s vision is to bring knowledge into energy. Our mission is to enable energy efficiency. Together with the other partners of the Green Penguin consortium, we see the Green Penguin as an outstanding opportunity to raise the awareness of the general public and move closer to carbon neutrality.
Through donations from the Norway Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway contribute to reducing social and economic disparities and to strengthening bilateral relations with 15 EU Member States. The countries of the EEA and other European states share a common set of values and responsibilities aimed at promoting equal opportunities, tolerance, safety, environmental sustainability and decent life.
The Slovenian Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy is in charge of the implementation of the European cohesion policy and development in Slovenia. It is responsible for the disbursement of funding provided by the European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund in accordance with the EU acquis.
