The Iskraemeco team has participated in the Climathon Challenge organized by CER – Sustainable Business Network Slovenia and Municipality Ljubljana.
Climathon, a hackathon on the decarbonization of City Ljubljana was looking for solutions & ideas on how to tackle global climate challenges, how to engage residents and businesses of Ljubljana to co-create a carbon-neutral city. Based on the solutions Ljubljana will apply for EU Mission »100 carbon-neutral cities«
This year, Climathon took place virtually between 10 November – 13 November 2020, across 145 cities, in Slovenia seven teams decided to tackle these very important challenges.
Each team has also a mentor, and Iskraemeco got the best mentor we could wish for –Violeta Bulc, former European Commissioner for Transport EU, who through her entire carer worked on projects contributing to improve the quality of life and create a better and healthier environment. Her vision is in the same alignment as Iskraemeco.
After 72 hours of brainstorming, researching, calculation, testing the concept, the Iskraemeco team presented the Green Penguin idea. The solution is based on the use of smart digital technologies through gamification to achieve environmental and sustainable literacy for children and a substantial decrease of CO2 footprint for the city.
The idea has also been nominated for Global Climathon Awards.
