Organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS), this prestigious event brought together the country’s most forward-looking companies and innovators. The awards, presented for the 23rd consecutive year, highlight achievements that strengthen Slovenia’s position on the global technological map.
Earlier this year, the IE.7 RC smart meter was awarded the Golden Regional Innovation Award by the Gorenjska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, recognizing its practical value and technological excellence in addressing low-voltage grid challenges.
About the award-winning innovation
The IE.7 RC smart meter was developed as a response to one of the most pressing challenges in today’s energy landscape: how to upgrade existing distribution networks to handle renewable generation and new energy demands without costly or invasive infrastructure changes.
Unlike traditional meters that simply record consumption, offer limited visibility, and no control functionality the IE.7 RC is a grid intelligence device that integrates advanced monitoring, analytics, early detection of anomalies and active device control functions in a single, compact retrofit solution. It is designed for scalable deployment—making it a true enabler of proactive grid management.
Key innovations include:
- Power quality monitoring – Continuous, EN 50160-compliant.
- Real-time low-voltage grid visibility – Live insights instead of delayed data.
- Symbiot integration – Actionable visualization and decision support.
- EDGE computing – Local device control (PVs, EVs, heat pumps and others).
- Non-intrusive installation – Rogowski coils enable fast, cost-effective upgrades of existing transformer stations without disruptive installation.
