The awarded paper, “Active load control of the electrical grid brings significant benefits,” addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing the energy sector today: how to effectively manage growing electricity demand due to increased adoption of electric vehicles, heat pumps, and renewable energy sources—without resorting to costly infrastructure upgrades.
The Iskraemeco’s Innovation team with Tomaž Dostal, Head of innovation sector, developed a conceptual framework that distinguishes between static and flexible loads in residential and public settings. By applying active load control using a decentralized, low-complexity algorithm (AIMD) at both transformer and consumer levels, the solution enables the grid to respond dynamically to real-time demand without compromising user comfort or requiring new hardware installations.
The approach leverages smart meters, existing grid infrastructure, and user engagement, demonstrating that it’s possible to significantly reduce consumption peaks, stabilize grid operations, and extend equipment life—all while maintaining everyday functionality for end users.
This recognition is not only a testament to our team’s expertise, but also a reflection of Iskraemeco’s leading role in developing smart, sustainable energy solutions. As we continue to innovate in the areas of digitalization and grid intelligence, this achievement affirms our commitment to shaping the future of energy management.
Congratulations to the entire team for this well-deserved honor!
