Representing Iskraemeco, Gregor Kita, Global Quality Director, addressed the event and also participated in the round table discussion with a contribution titled “Iskraemeco and Metrology.” In his remarks, he emphasized the critical role of metrology from the perspective of electrification, economic development, and the digital transition.
“Iskraemeco is an international company with 80 years of experience in metrology, manufacturing electricity meters. From the very beginning, measuring electricity consumption has been crucial—not only economically, but for the development of modern civilization and the safety and stability of the grid,” said Kita.
He highlighted how smart meters are becoming increasingly intelligent, generating more complex data that will be essential for managing energy networks, which today are significantly more volatile and complex than they were 80 years ago. AI-driven data analysis will be key in ensuring future grid stability.
Kita also underscored the importance of certified and trusted measurements: “In a world where trust is increasingly fragile, the transparency and accuracy of measurements will only grow in importance. It therefore remains crucial that the institutions responsible for the implementation of the Metre Convention maintain their autonomy and have the support of policymakers who ensure their funding.«
The event was organized by the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia under the auspices of the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport. Keynote speakers included Minister Matjaž Han, Dr. Martin Milton, Director of BIPM, and Dr. Samo Kopač, Director of the Slovenian Metrology Institute. The ceremony highlighted the value of 150 years of international cooperation in metrology and its critical role in everyday life—from healthcare and safety to technology and commerce.
Iskraemeco is proud to be part of this global journey, committed to the highest metrological standards and to innovative solutions for a smart and sustainable future.
