Competing among 13 submitted innovations, Iskraemeco’s solution was chosen as the top innovation by a program council (30%) and and votes from the participants at the event (70%)., making this recognition particularly significant as it reflects the endorsement of experts in the field.
Tomaž Dostal, Head of Innovation Sector and a spokesperson from Iskraemeco, presented the company’s groundbreaking solution for managing flexibility in the electricity distribution system. The solution utilizes the Distributed Dynamic Load Management (DDLM) method, which leverages the advanced metering system (NMS) to monitor grid conditions and relay control information. Additionally, it incorporates a digital twin of the network, allowing for real-time system control and responsiveness.
The standout feature of this solution is the decentralized approach offered by the DDLM method. Unlike traditional solutions that rely on centralized control—requiring highly detailed and often unstable grid models, complex algorithms to calculate demand and generation at specific points, and powerful communication systems to transfer information—the DDLM method operates in a distributed manner at the edge (metering point) of the network. This makes the solution not only simpler and more reliable but also more cost-effective and scalable.
By utilizing existing devices in the grid, Iskraemeco’s solution avoids the need for detailed insight into every connected device while still ensuring stability and efficiency. This flexibility makes it particularly well-suited for integrating renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic systems, into modern power grids.
Iskraemeco’s recognition at “Inovacija Energetike ’24” highlights its commitment to developing innovative and practical solutions for grid management. We are confident that implementing this solution in DSOs would significantly contribute to the green transition by allowing much better utilization of the existing energy infrastructure.
As the energy sector continues to embrace new technologies, solutions like Iskraemeco’s DDLM method are key to addressing modern challenges and ensuring a sustainable transition.
