The initiative is part of broader efforts toward sustainable development and local decarbonization. Iskraemeco is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, a goal supported by our sustainability strategy and recognized with the EcoVadis Gold rating. Ginko trees can easily live for a hundred years and the eight trees have the potential to absorb around 12 tons of CO₂ during their lifetime, contributing significantly to the decarbonization of our local environment.
Thomas Petuaud-Letang, CEO of Iskraemeco, added: “For 80 years, Iskraemeco has been part of the Kranj community, and today we proudly reinforce our commitment to people and the environment. Donating eight ginkgo trees next to one of the key educational institutions in the region symbolizes collaboration between our company, the City of Kranj, and our employees—volunteers who planted them.”
Employee volunteers also highlighted the importance of sustainable actions. One of them shared: “Like a seed that falls to the ground, sprouts, and grows into a tree that offers support, hope, and protection for younger generations. That’s the true feeling when planting a tree – we contribute to the quality of the environment and create shade that will one day provide shelter and comfort for someone.”
Planting this tree alley is a great example of how a company and a local community can work together to create lasting change. Thank you to all volunteers and the City of Kranj for excellent cooperation!
