Throughout the event, numerous discussions centered around operational challenges that are becoming more pressing each year. Distribution system operators are experiencing a fast increase in electric vehicles, rooftop solar, heat pumps, and other decentralized sources, all of which impact grid load and stability. Reliable data collection, processing, and the ability to take action based on real-time insights are becoming essential. As a result, topics such as low-voltage visibility, cybersecurity, device interoperability, and adapting to different regulatory environments were at the forefront of conversations.
A significant highlight of this year’s fair was Iskraemeco’s participation in the official presentation at the BSI booth, where the newly published FNN Requirement Book for iRLMSys was introduced. As an active member of the working group, Iskraemeco contributed to the development of the requirements defining the communication between industrial metering devices and Smart Meter Gateways for the German market. We presented our solution featuring the MT880 industrial meter combined with a Smart Meter Gateway, power supply module, and CLS module. The presentation confirmed that our technology meets German regulatory demands and supports the standardization efforts essential for long-term interoperability.
Our contribution to the industry dialogue continued through two expert presentations at the Forum. Ivan Kern, Head of Sales Sector, discussed the digitalization of low-voltage networks and the role of flexibility in stabilizing the grid, while Michael Bratovz, Sales Director, focused on the transition from ageing infrastructure to smart, data-driven grid operations. Both presentations reflected the reality of the energy transition and the opportunities operators can unlock by adopting digital and modular solutions.
At our booth, visitors were able to explore the new generations of smart electricity meters and water meters, the Symbiot digital platform, and solutions for real-time low-voltage grid management. There was strong interest in the combination of robust metering infrastructure, advanced analytics, and tools that provide insight into load and energy flows directly at the edge of the network. Conversations showed that the industry is seeking solutions that are tested, operationally feasible, and suitable for rapid deployment.
The fair offered Iskraemeco an opportunity to reconnect with existing partners and establish new relationships, while also confirming that European distribution operators are decisively moving toward greater digitalization and integrated approaches to grid management.
