More than 80 industry representatives attended the event, taking part in expert presentations focused on digital transformation, managing complexity, and the role of data in manufacturing. The program concluded with a guided tour of Iskraemeco’s production facilities, where participants were able to see smart manufacturing principles in practice.
Why Iskraemeco?
Iskraemeco was selected for the production visit as an example of good practice within the Slovenian industrial environment. In 2025, the company was among the finalists of the Factory of the Year selection, confirming that its production processes, work organization and use of data are recognized as advanced and comparable to the best in the industry. The purpose of such events is to benchmark against other companies and gain valuable feedback on further opportunities for improvement.
Digitalization, automation and data at the heart of production
During the production tour, participants were introduced to key aspects of Iskraemeco’s operations, including a high level of automation, digitally supported production processes, and the use of proprietary software solutions to control assembly lines. Special emphasis was placed on the role of data in supporting product traceability, quality assurance and efficient production management.
Visitors also showed strong interest in broader topics related to modern manufacturing, such as the integration of employees from diverse backgrounds, supply chain stability, and the impact of global conditions on production operations. Positive feedback confirmed that well-structured processes, transparency and strong technological support play an important role in building trust in a company’s manufacturing capabilities.
On this occasion, Mirko Šalej, Global Director of Engineering Area at Iskraemeco, highlighted smart manufacturing is based on the effective integration of technology, data and people: “A smart factory means automated production supported by advanced information systems that enable efficient and high-quality operations. Data is key, both the data directly linked to products and the data related to production performance, which forms the basis for effective process management and continuous improvement.”
