Linking sustainable education and digital competences with Green Penguin
Green Penguin is on a mission to bridge the gap between sustainable education and digital competences. For this purpose, he joined the Digitrajni Učitelj (Digital and Sustainable Teacher) conference, held in Portorož in October. This event provided the perfect platform for the Green Penguin project to showcase the innovative approach to sustainable education and the use of technology.
From the 23rd to the 24th of October, the Digitrajni Učitelj conference brought together educators and leaders in the field of education, all eager to transform themselves into “greentech teachers”. The conference’s goal was to empower over 20,000 educators with the tools and knowledge needed for a digital, sustainable, and financially responsible education transformation.
Our Green Penguin took the spotlight at the conference. The team shared the project’s vision, detailing how the platform works and how schools can seamlessly integrate it into their educational programs. It was recognized as a great opportunity to promote sustainable values and digital education that will enrich the future of our environment and society as a whole.
This event has allowed us to spread awareness of sustainable practices and digital literacy among teachers and education professionals. Through this project, young people will gain opportunities to learn about sustainability and gain digital competences that will contribute to a better future for the environment and society. It’s clear that sustainable education holds the key to our future, and Green Penguin is here to make that future greener and more digital than ever before.
Today, the Green Penguin project is being implemented by a consortium of organizations, namely: Iskraemeco, d.d., the City of Kranj, the City of Ljubljana, the Association DOVES-FEE Slovenia and FEE Norway who are implementing the international Eco-Schools programme. The project is co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development. The Norwegian Financial Mechanism stands for Norway’s contribution to a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
