Strong projects across Europe
In 2025, Iskraemeco secured four major European projects:
- Greece – together with Oracle, Iskraemeco won 40% of the HEDNO tender, supplying at least 1.1 million smart meters and building a complete advanced metering infrastructure.
- Poland – two major tenders were won: for Enea, 600,000 smart meters will be supplied; for Tauron, the Symbiot HES platform will support more than 6 million metering points.
- Croatia – Iskraemeco won the majority share of a €32 million national tender; deliveries are already underway and will be completed by the end of the year.
- Slovenia – the company maintains a leading position and stable sales. While large tenders are not currently active, demand is rising due to new tariff systems and the growing number of prosumers.
“Our role in these projects confirms that Iskraemeco is a reliable and competitive company co-shaping the future of European energy infrastructure,” said Thomas Petuaud-Letang, CEO of Iskraemeco.
A step into smart industry
The opening of the new SMT and THT line is an important step towards Industry 4.0. The new equipment enables:
- 60% higher productivity
- faster time-to-market
- AI-driven quality control
A highlight is the top-tier status of the new THT line — only two such advanced lines exist in Europe, and one is now in operation in Kranj.
“This is more than just expanding capacity. The new line sets standards in smart manufacturing, reduces our carbon footprint, and creates new jobs. It is an investment in the future that strengthens the local industrial base and our global competitiveness,” said Miha Kern, Director of Production Engineering and Manufacturing.
“Eighty years is an important milestone. But for us, it is not the end of the story. It is the beginning of a new chapter — a chapter of courage, cooperation, and innovation. Together with our partners and customers, we will continue turning sparks into progress,” concluded Petuaud-Letang.
Driving digital transformation
Iskraemeco is entering a new chapter of digital transformation. From a hardware manufacturer, the company is evolving into a provider of advanced digital services, turning data into value that enables distribution system operators to:
- manage grids more efficiently,
- integrate renewables more easily,
- and increase system resilience.
The focus is on observability, planning, and management. Supported by artificial intelligence, these solutions help predict challenges, make better decisions, and enable more flexible and sustainable network operations.
Iskraemeco is also applying its expertise to the water sector, developing solutions for digitalization, smart consumption monitoring, and sustainable resource management. In this way, the company is becoming a partner in digital transformation contributing to a cleaner future.
“Our digital transformation means going beyond metering — co-creating smart solutions that increase grid efficiency and accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. With global expertise and local understanding, we enable our partners to operate smarter, more efficiently, and more responsibly,” added Petuaud-Letang.
80 years of building the future
Iskraemeco’s journey began in 1945 with a small factory producing electromechanical meters in Kranj. By the 1960s, the company was among the first European exporters; in the 1980s its meters were present in more than 100 countries; in the 2000s it became a pioneer in smart metering. Today, Iskraemeco operates in more than 80 countries and employs thousands of experts worldwide. Since 2007, Iskraemeco has been part of the Elsewedy Electric Group, sharing a common vision of a smart, digital, and green future.
