EPDs are standardized, third-party verified documents based on Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), which calculate a product’s carbon footprint and other environmental impacts across all life cycle stages—from raw material extraction and manufacturing, to distribution, installation, use, maintenance, and end-of-life.
In July 2025, we completed an internal LCA for the IE.X family, for both Egypt and Kranj locations, and successfully verified it externally through an EPD. This is an important achievement, as the assessment was carried out in-house by our environmental specialist within the Quality department, which demonstrates our growing internal environmental and sustainability capabilities, resulting in costs saving.
The results indicate a significant improvement—approximately 55%—in the carbon footprint of the products across their entire lifecycle compared to the MT880 meter.
We also learned that the use phase (meter’s own electricity consumption) has the highest environmental impact, followed closely by the manufacturing phase, particularly the raw materials and components used, and energy consumption in production. These insights guide us in applying ecodesign principles—reducing product consumption, incorporating recycled plastics, and increasing supply chain transparency, to improve our products and follow market trends and demand.
