Golden award for Iskraemeco’s Fair Meter innovation

Iskraemeco’s Fair Meter project has received the company’s second consecutive golden award for innovation by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Slovenia. The solution that earned the highest national award for innovation is based on the integration of sustainable development into the company’s business model and strategy. The project focuses on Iskraemeco’s activities across the supply chain and on raising awareness on the issue among customers, industries and in the broader business environment.

At the 16th Innovation Day at Brdo pri Kranju the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Slovenia presented its nation-wide awards for the best innovators and companies. The original idea behind Iskraemeco’s innovation was to make an electricity meter that applies the fair economy principles. The concept behind the original Fair Meter, AM550, has evolved into a comprehensive company-wide sustainable development strategy, which integrates the principles of sustainability and circular economy into the company products and processes across all levels. This solution has put Iskraemeco at the forefront of companies who are embedding sustainability into their business operations.

 

The award-winning innovation has considerably increased the company’s innovativeness as it introduces an entire range of technological and process novelties. The success it has achieved has fuelled the motivation of the project team members and, gradually, other employees.

 

Iskraemeco’s three-tier sustainability strategy is aimed at building a culture of sustainability across the company, its supply chain and partnerships. The main focus of the Fair Meter is raw materials, their origin, labour standards and the promotion of higher industry standards. Other important components include education, training and raising awareness on the issue among customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

 

Iskraemeco’s key activities in this regard include training for suppliers and customers, knowledge sharing, awareness raising, participation in public debates, and mentoring of other companies.
